Lending a Hand - 1949 Morris Minor refurbishment

At the request of the National Motor museum at Beaulieu the SLJ team has just refurbished their 1949 "lowlight" Morris Minor.

This project has been assisted by our young apprentice, Matt Gear, who is gaining practical experience here whilst completing a course at Trowbridge College nearby. 

The work has included renewal of the braking system, welding underneath and a general "fettle". 

AC Owners’ Club visit

We were pleased to welcome the AC Owners’ Club to the workshop in the late summer last year.

A splendid array of ACs graced the car park whilst the owners took refreshment and met the Spencer Lane-Jones Ltd team.  A chance for a some new faces to see our extensive new workshops and all the people at SLJ.

Spencer Lane-Jones wins Sir George White Trophy

Congratulations to Spencer Lane-Jones for winning the Sir George White Trophy at the recent Bristol Owners’ Club annual dinner at the Royal Automobile Club in London. 

The award is for his lifetime support of Bristol motor cars and the Bristol Owners’ Club.  A sustained, standing ovation from all present greeted this welcome news.

As days out of the office go they don’t get much more extreme than this.

Our newest mechanic, Finn Walton, got himself a post as the head mechanic on an expedition to Antarctica over Christmas.  The expedition reached the pole in time to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Amundsen’s successful and Scott’s unsuccessful treks.  Finn was responsible for final preparation and maintenance of the 3 massive over-snow vehicles that transported the team.  Fantastic trip and well done to Finn from all back here.  He is a 3rd generation Antarctic explorer with his father and grandfather both earning Polar medals.
